School Assembly Program

Get Up Close • Learn About the Life of Hawks and Owls

I find children and adults are in awe of live birds that they rarely see up close.  I would like to offer your students this unique opportunity to see and learn about hawks and owls.  I am Jaye Moore, the owner and wildlife rehabilitator of the Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center located in Sequim, WA.  I have live, non-releasable wild birds to share such as Red-tailed and Swainson’s hawks, as well as Barn, Saw, Whet, Western Screech, and Barred owls.  I weave informative, interesting and amusing stories about each bird, their habitat and nesting cycles, their predators and more.  Also included in information on what to do if an orphan or wounded bird or animal is found.

I have presented to school groups (elementary, junior, and high schools), the Sequim and North Kitsap Audubon Societies, Streamfest, Doswallips and Sequim Bay State Park, Birds Unlimited, “Go Play Outside” Washington Alliance, and more for over twenty years.

Presentations are well suited to Science Fairs, Creativity Fairs, P.T.A. Nights, and other school events.   There is always time for questions from students and the audience.
