This happened yesterday [7-25-17] at Friends Landing in Montesano, Washington. This awards event and luncheon was hosted by the regional Director Jim Unsworth of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Gary and I received a special regional award for “Volunteers of the Year”. A HUGE Thank You to Larry Bennett for nominating us, and a big thanks to our local biologists Anita McMillian and Shelly Ament for driving us to the event.

Volunteer of the Year
Jaye & Gary Moore
The Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center
These extremely deserving people have operated The Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center for many, many years. They have helped many injured eagles, hawks, owls, fawns, and other birds and wildlife of all kids get back healthy again and get to be released in the wilds of the Northwest. I have taken many birds to their center that have been injured and have seen up close the extreme love and care they have given these birds and other animals.
Their dedication to the birds and wildlife of the State of Washington has been outstanding. Words cannot state how much time, money and effort thy have put into this 24-hour, seven days a week operation. These wonderful people have put so much work into this center along with their other dedicated volunteers that they deserve the highest praise possible for helping to save these beautiful creatures.
Recently Jaye Moore announced a a center fund raiser I attended that she plans on retiring in the near future. She mentioned she would still be helping but wanted to move towards retirement. This would be a perfect time to give her this award from the WDFW for her deserving achievements over the many years here on the Olympic Peninsula.
